St. Thomas Aquinas on Sex and Adultery

"But if any man have not care of his own, and especially of those of his house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel." - 1 Timothy 5:8

St. Thomas Aquinas lived from 1225 to 1274 and wrote the Summa Theologica.

One thing he's saying here is that men are more rational than women and women are led by their feelings. And that women sin more than men in adultery.

I'll say it again: there is nothing new in the Manosphere. Far greater men than me have thought about people and human nature for thousands of years. Try the wisdom in the Bible sometimes. And Marcus Aurelius St. Augustine and a bunch of other people.

As I noticed a few posts ago, even Florence Nightingale said women lack sympathy.

"Accordingly if we consider that which is common to adultery and fornication, the sin of the husband and that of the wife are compared the one to the other as that which exceeds to that which is exceeded, for in women the humors are more abundant, wherefore they are more inclined to be led by their concupiscences, whereas in man there is abundance of heat which excites concupiscence. Simply speaking, however, other things being equal, a man sins more grievously in simple fornication than a woman, because he has more of the good of reason, which prevails over all movements of bodily passions. But as regards the lesion to marriage which adultery adds to fornication and for which reason it is an occasion for divorce, the woman sins more grievously than the man, as appears from what we have said above. And since it is more grievous than simple fornication, it follows that, simply speaking, the adulterous wife sins more grievously than the adulterous husband, other things being equal."

Very true. What you're not getting is that the writings in the Manosphere are a groping for those eternal truths that have been, not forgotten, but have been no longer taught as people with purposeful intent have been working to remake society to their liking, the slimy bastards.

The Pareto Principal applies to the Manosphere's search, of course, since the 80/20 rule is universal. The trick is to figure out which of the statements and declarations are part of the 20% of the useful information.

The Manosphere will remain a silly immature cult until it gives up such nonsense as "the red pill" and "alphas" and the "Dark Triad." And fools like Roissy and Vox Day are two of the worst offenders. They're no Thomas Aquinas.

Yep, when the symbols of a movement are from a Hollywood movie, you know it is rather weak. But as Phenix states, for a lot of men these days, the knowledge of masculinity is void. And at least with the "red pill" bullshit, it starts a lot of these chaps on the path to masculine knowledge. Though as also stated, generally only about 10 -20% will actually get beyond the fantasy of taking the "red pill" and find their manlyness.

'They're no Thomas Aquinas.'

I take into consideration where St. Thomas Aquinas got his wisdom. That's why what he wrote has lasted.
