In a Lot of Mythology Women Brought Chaos into the World

Think Eve...think Lilith, who was Adam's first wife. Think Eris, who was the Greek goddess of chaos, strife and discord.

I consider myself a "conservative" in the sense I know civilization is a thin, easily damaged veneer on top of what can be some pretty bad human nature. And when it's damaged or destroyed all that terrible nature can pop up.

So if women really did bring "chaos, strife and discord" into the world, then when men, who created civilization, fail to keep women under control...up pops the monsters.

Again, to quote Erik von Keuhnelt-Leddihn, when leftists (and feminists) murder the Father we get chaos and monsters being let loose.

This article is from Synonym and was written by Sabine McKellen.

Why Were Women a Necessary Evil in Greek Mythology?

In Greek mythology, Pandora is the first human woman -- and the reason for mankind's misery.

According to Greek mythology, men lived in peace and good health until the first woman, Pandora, entered the world. Pandora unwittingly unleashed disease, evil and general misery on mortals, serving as the gods’ punishment for man’s arrogance in accepting the gift of fire. This complicated tale marks women as a necessary evil in ancient Greek belief. With Pandora, men's other half is introduced to the world, and in depicting women as untrustworthy and even devious, the myth supports the paternal structure of ancient Greek culture.

The Greek poet Hesiod describes how the titan Prometheus brought the gift of fire to man, angering the Olympian gods, who decided to take their revenge not only on Prometheus, but on the human race as well. They did so by creating a physically perfect woman out of clay. The result, named Pandora, was given beauty accompanied by cunning, deceit and guile. The world’s first woman, then, had the power to charm and betray. The gods gave Pandora to Prometheus' brother Epimetheus. Once inside his home, Pandora opened the gift Zeus had given her: a jar containing evil and disease. Although men had been free of such troubles before, Pandora's simple act of opening the jar released them to plague the human race forever after.

Pandora's Purpose for the Gods

Pandora marks the female of the species as a necessary evil that determines the inferior status of the human race, placing mortal men and women decidedly below the race of gods. Unlike the Judeo-Christian story of Adam and Eve, in which Eve brings sin and misery to humankind through her own misjudgment, Pandora is created for the very purpose of evil. She is never given the choice whether to give in to evil, because it is her entire reason for existing. In her role as the first woman, this casts a damning light on the entire gender.

Pandora's Role in Ancient Greek Society

Pandora served as a justification not only for the mortals’ inferiority to the gods, but for women’s inferiority to men. Ancient Greece was a paternalistic society, with women’s legal and citizenship status largely regulated by, and subordinate to, men. This particular origin story underscores the realities of ancient Athenian society, where women had no independent legal status. A woman was forever under some form of guardianship -- first that of her father or another male relative, then that of her husband. With men overseeing the economic aspects of her life, an ancient Athenian woman also was banned from public life and unable to own property.

Women's Role in Ancient Greek Society

Hesiod’s description of women as descendants of Pandora, then, is negative but instructive, in the cultural context of ancient Greece. According to some translations, Hesiod calls women a “beautiful evil” who create mischief and contribute less to society than men, but who must be tolerated if men wish to be supported in old age by children and leave any legacy.

It's not just a myth, it's reality.

Reminds me of the troll MGTOW'd out.

When I was young, the way women were portrayed in mythology and the bible seemed like something written by men who were unenlightened. It didn't seem like they were writing about *modern* women, after all.

Now that I've had a marriage end and the chance to observe the world more, I know it's me who was unenlightened. The men who wrote the ancient texts knew the score and I should have listened.

Fashion fools us. So does education. You can dress women up. Give them books. Make them bosses. It doesn't matter. They're is still a quality about them that thrives on drama.

This is biological in nature. After all, what could be more drama-laden than raising a kid. But...it bleeds into other areas of life. And if you don't want to end up a bit player in a woman's soap opera, you damned well better take the role of director.

Take it from a former bit player.

That's the way I saw it, too. Then I found out I was wrong.

That is a GREAT line!

Replace women with people and you are accurate.

Well the old texts about women and the modern brainwashing about women are two different things. Think Disney princess, damsel in distress stories.

I knew you would show up and have to chime in as always. As for this article, you just helped prove a point. Q.E.D.

LOL.

Yep, chiming in to call out your bullshit.

As much as I dislike Facebook, I have found it useful in the way it has unwittingly unmasked the different natures of men and women.

Men's feeds: Occasional music videos, observations, jokes.

Women's feeds: Non-stop complaints, worries, arguments, laundry lists of likes and dislikes, "memes" insulting men, platitudes singing their own praises, long stories about work problems, photos of animal torture, stories about being harasses (or stories about being ignored), kid problems, lack-of-having-a-kid problems, picking fights over any political issue, and fights between their friends.

If FB is even a small reflection of the inner emotional brains of the sexes, it's safe to say what I said earlier: women thrive on drama.

I cannot figure out if I'm dealing with a man or a woman.

Ok, let's settle this.

@MGTOW'd Out:

Are you a man or a woman?

@ Anony. I'm afraid that's not a question that's ever going to be settled. MGTOW'd Out is nothing more than a sock puppet hydra creature that thinks it can read people's minds and has lied every time it opened up its mouth. This thing belongs on David Futrelle's site instead of stalking everyone here. It clearly has nothing better to do with it's miserable life.

Men's feeds on Facebook: Non-stop complaints about not getting laid, then complaining they are no virgin in the world when they do pump and dump chicks; lists of likes and dislikes about female genitalia; poems that insult men and women; song lyrics about death; long stories about not getting ahead in life while acknowledging their own weaknesses, with subsequent posts proving that they refuse to do anything about their situation; stories about being Christian, yet their personality traits displayed a definitive an anti-Christian fervor, especially their fetish about murdering women in video games and wishing they had a sex-bot.

"It clearly has nothing better to do with it's miserable life.'

Thanks, The Obvious, for saying nothing yet again.

You're quoting LosAngelesKing who said that.

Ok now, I take it from the link:

MGTOWD'out = man.

(I had actually thought you were a single, never-married, childless (but with lots of cats), post-menopausal, obese, showers-only-once-a-month, rabid, delusional, illogical, racist, sexist, no-sense-of-humor, feminist, Andrea Dworkin-like woman - but apparently I was wrong.)

You know, that's rich coming from you. All we get from you is the same mangina white knighting and obvious lies about supposed events from your life. Unlike you, The Obvious and I are too different people. We aren't cowards who hide behind multiple self-righteous and sanctimonious identities to white knight for some women as an opportunity to get laid. Do you do that in real life too? Oh, you poor thing, let me help you...those swinish men, do you want some dick? Or do you frequent Frutrelle's webpage, begging to be his bend over bitch?

No, don't answer that, we already know the answer to that. And you can't even deny it, because you know it's true.

Everyone else here knows it's true, and your saying that I'm just saying nothing is because I'm preaching to the choir.

It's blatantly apparent that The Obvious/LosAngelesKing are the same person, each of whom have nothing more than sophomoric comments. I do thank you for merely offering me much needed laughs with the same gimmick.

We're not, and it's hilarious you falsely accuse others of doing what you do.

Right on cue, The Obvious/LosAngelesKing, with you white knighting. How cute.

Hmm. Well, if Ancient Greece was a bastion of misogyny (note, they are only talking about Athens. Sparta and Mycenae were more respectful of their women), then it means that a pro-gay society is ultimately anti-women. Think about it: if rape culture in Greek mythology was normalized, so was boy rape. Plenty of books that say pederasty was completely normal.

Rather than see Greek Myth as misogynistic, I see it as showing women's crueler sides. Of course, anything not positive towards a woman is deemed offensive.
