I subscribe to Ezra Pound's dictum that the artist is the antenna of the race. Since cartoonists are artists, they, too, are Pound's antenna.
Here we have a cartoon by Ron Cobb, drawn probably 40 years ago. That kid knows what's going to happen to him, and he's not happy. At all.
I wasn't happy to go to public schools, although I was more bored than anything else. Most people I know weren't happy about going to school. Schools then were close to killing many of their students' souls, and they're doing the same thing today. It's why our drop-our rates are so high.
We're producing a nation of doped-up video-game-playing slackers who in their delusions thought that Obama was going to be Mr. Hope and Change. These kids have zero analytical ability. If you ask them why basic supply-and-demand dictates that universal healthcare will always lead to shortages and rationing, they not only don't know; they don't believe it.
Since they have zero analytical ability and are uneducated, that makes them sheep. And sheep are always ruled by wolves, which is what Obama is, and Bush before him, and nearly everyone in Congress no matter their party affiliation.
Sheep ruled by wolves has been noticed for thousands of years. Aesop noticed it, and Jesus noticed it. Everyone who thinks about it notices it today.
I can blame a lot of things on the stupidity and ignorance of people, but the public schools are a lot of the problem. Uneducated people can't see what it coming. They can't even see what is behind them because they are ignorant as apples of history.
There is a lot of joking today about the coming Zombie Apocalypse. Actually, it is coming. The government will collapse, as every government in the history of the world has collapsed, and society will be taken down with it. To what extent, no one knows. I hope it's not all the much, but it certainly won't be fun, not with the importation of millions of America-hating 85-IQ Third Worlders.
I give us until about 2030 until it all goes kablooie.
It's probably more accurate to refer to people today as zombies instead of sheep. It's an American thing. We're creating a nation of zombies, and when the government falls, they'll wander around in a trance, dazed from the unexpected hitting them, and then they'll form gangs and attack the people still awake. Perhaps The Hunger Games is a good example, although there are no zombies in it.
And how do you kill zombies? Shoot them in what passes for their brains. That's pretty ironic, really: shoot them in what they don't have.
Our schools are set up along factory lines. It was done on purpose, to create brainless zombie consumers. John Taylor Gatto, a former teacher who has documented the catastrophes our public schools have become, has some interesting quotes:
"...I began to realize that the bells and the confinement, the crazy sequences, the age-segregation, the lack of privacy, the constant surveillance, and all the rest of national curriculum of schooling were designed exactly as if someone had set out to prevent children from learning how to think and act, to coax them into addiction and dependent behavior."
Frederick Winslow Taylor, who helped design our modern school system, said this, "What I demand of the worker," he said, "is not to produce any longer by his own initiative, but to execute punctiliously the orders given down to their minutest details."
In simpler terms, to create zombies, although the schools didn't mean to.
The public schools wanted to turn students into worker-machines...but instead got zombies.
That's what you call the Law of Unintended Consequences.
