"The orchestration of press, radio and television to create a continuous, lasting and total environment renders the influence of propaganda virtually unnoticed precisely because it creates a constant environment." -Jacques Ellul
The concepts of the Manosphere, many of which are delusions, are propaganda.
Propaganda, as I've pointed out more than once, is based on the belief that the Good is under attack by the Bad, which has to be destroyed in order to save the Good. It's based on our inborn narcissism - everything is either "all-good" or "all-bad."
Many of the concepts in the Manosphere are based on the concept that women are bad, that they are the enemy - monsters, really. And being under attack by monsters who want to destroy you is the archetype of the horror story (all propaganda, then, is based on the archetype of the horror story).
The Manosphere's concept of the "Alpha" is the grandiose "all-good" self (the "Beta" and all the rest is the "all-bad" self). Women are the "all-bad" self, too, who want to destroy men.
Feminism is based on (leftist) propaganda. In its case, women (even if fat, ugly, stupid and deluded)) are the "all-good" and men are the "all-bad."
What we have, then, is a propaganda war.
Understanding the nature of people does not mean as seeing them as "all-bad." I keep coming back to the story of the Garden of Eden, when "evil" comes into the world by Eve being deceived by the "serpent" and Adam wimping out and listening to Eve.
Who's the good one here, and who is the bad one? Both are imperfect and both are equally responsible.
Then there is the observation at the end of the story about how women want to rule men but men must instead rule women (this reminds me of what Samuel Johnson wrote: "Nature hath given women so much power the law wisely gives them little").
Again, who's good and who's bad? Neither. People are just imperfect. In Christianity it's Original Sin.
In other religions and philosophies people are considered to be asleep (the Manosphere's Red Pill in not "waking up," just exchanging one Matrix for another).
Henry Rollins once said, "Knowledge without mileage is bullshit." It's even worse bullshit when your "knowledge" isn't even knowledge but nonsense.
"Alphas," the "Dark Triad," "Alpha Fux and Beta Bux"....all bullshit, all propaganda.
Unfortunately many of the concepts in the Manosphere are the mirror image of feminism. God knows where this will lead. Nothing good, I'd say.

The red pill. How the hell can I take a concept seriously when all the images are based on a fantasy novel/movie?
The best is, " I have taken the red pill and am now aware of how women really are". Are you fucking kidding me?
In Eastern mysticism, which predates this rp shit by thousands of years, the red pill taking would be equal to taking the first step on the path. Not the end!
Most of the Masters I have read or experienced, state up front, that the journey into truth is never ending. But hey, if you wanna sell books, video's and boot camps to guys who are truly hurting, don't mention that the path is long and arduous, cuz they probably won't be buying then.
Most of these guys who sell this fantasy are con artists. PERIOD.
Of course the manosphere is propaganda. From its origins it couldn't be anything else. We live in a society of perpetual adolescence (a life stage that never existed until the Prussian education system invented it), where people do not have mental maturity and cannot think for themselves. With propaganda surrounding us by all sides, about the only way you're going to grab someone's attention is to use more of it in a different direction, because that's the only way our brains know how to process new information. Thus, we fight feminist propaganda with manosphere propaganda because we don't know any better. If we could fight with logic, feminism would die overnight and we wouldn't need a manosphere to begin with, just like we've never need one in all of human history until this generation.
One more note, your manosphere leaders are akin to the cool kids in high school charging the dorks five bucks so they can learn how to kiss the cheerleaders, knowing it will never happen. The problem is, being still mentally in high school, both sides are mentally and emotionally stunted, and as soon as they are forced to leave their little cocoon, it all falls apart. That's why they dig in so hard to criticism: because neither side is mature enough to handle the blows to their ego, much like a jock realizing he isn't smart or a nerd knowing he'll never date the cheerleader. It's a case of the child leading the child.
It depends on who you take to define the manosphere I suppose. I mean no insult when I consider Unca Bob to be one of the best of the breed: if one blogger can serve to define the shere - it is probably our esteemed host! He illustrates his points with modern stories and excepts from classical and timeless Biblical passages and from Greek philosophers. There are others - Captain Capitalism is a good shit most of the time, he pushes common sense, self improvement and sound financial and life planning. Even Vox Day (who knows nothing about manhood)- offers valuable insight into the mind of the modern feral woman.
Let's be honest boys. The divorce stats tell us that for one reason or another, around 50% of our women are unsuitable mates - which means they are unsuitable mothers too. They are being indoctrinated with a toxic brew of feminism and Marxism that is leaving them with maturity problems and unrealistic expectations. That is blowing back on our young men with devastating results. In short - our sons and daughters aren't growing up.
There is a lot of merit in the manosphere and to write if off wholesale is to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
The 'sphere is far from perfect, but it is the only place that men can hear anything that questions the official Party Line. The SJWs would be delighted for the 'sphere to disappear.
GF, yup. My problem isn't with the sphere itself, but the guys who devalue regular guys to get their hits up, sell shit, and talk non sense.
Brian, the beginning of masculine downfall started with the slow demise of rhetoric within the institutions of higher learning.

Speaking of which, I am still angry at Bob for not putting me on his blog roll. My Ginsu steak knives aren't going to sell themselves, dammit!
(No refunds, BTW)
;)
DeNihilist,
Of course you're right, but that's only one part of a multi-layered stratagem that John Taylor Gatto has laid out so eloquently. The end result has been a prolonging of childhood, and subsequently an utter inability for most people to grow up. When children are given the freedom of adults without the required reasoning to govern their choices, well, chaos ensues, and the corrective methods offered (Roosh, etc.) cannot truly fix what ails. We're hacking at the trees and not the root. Banging two chicks a night does not fulfill a man's soul, as Roosh is finally coming to realize.

Now this is the Glen stuff I enjoy reading the most.
That should read hacking at the leaves, not the root.

The serpent has a pretty good trick lately. Men blame women and women blame men...while nobody ever points out the serpent.
Trust me I've tried pointing it out. Some people will choose to stay in this infinite loop.
"Speaking of which, I am still angry at Bob for not putting me on his blog roll."
I had forgotten but I will.
I'd like a blog roll with cheese and mayo, please.
