The Great Disruption of the Ongoing Industrial Revolution

Joseph Schumpeter call the disruption of the ongoing Industrial Revolution "creative destruction." The problem, as always, is how to maintain the good while minimizing the bad.

Things won't be bad for the smart. They'll be the ones who have the autonomy and mastery and meaning to achieve the excellence that leads to eudaimonia.

Those who IQs are less than 100 are screwed Big Time. They'll get welfare and bread and circuses - and envy and crime that leads to attacking the smart. Who will withdraw into their armed compounds (even if they're called neighborhoods).

If things continue as they are, it might be those whose IQs are less than 120 will be the ones without jobs. After all, that catastrophe known as Barry Soetero has an IQ of only 115. If he wasn't a destructive parasite politician what job would he be qualified for?

What is this - the Morlocks and the Eloi?

An even scarier notion, 120 IQ is in just the right band to find ways to thwart smarter people's technological defenses and to weaponize the less smart with some kind of religious fundamentalism or Neo Communist meme or both.

That even assuming some of the high IQ misfits aren't left out and turn to work with the lower IQ types as well. If they are, even doomsday solutions might not work. All this tech makes genetic warfare pretty easy and knowing the current crop that are angling to be the elite, few of them are actually good at science, most are just money junkies and gamblers.

Those smart misfits using obsolete gear and stolen stuff might just end up a huge threat

After all quantity has a quality of its own as they say and the cognitive elite elite will be outnumbered 20 to 1 at least.

Interesting times

I wish more people would make intelligent comments instead of the worthless ad hominem attacks I sometimes get. Or else defending the indefensible.

Don't let the knuckleheads get you down. We love you, Uncle Bob.

Bob, there already is a place of lucrative employment for the low IQ, the dimwitted, the unproductive. It's called government.
