The most popular man I've met (popular with women) bore a strong resemblance to a young Brad Pitt. Oddly, he was a woman's hairdresser, but wasn't gay. He reminded me of Warren Beatty's character in Shampoo.
He had women showing up at his apartment telling him they wanted to fuck (that's an exact quote).
He was also the most bored man I've ever met and spent a lot of his spare time just sitting there watching TV.
I met him through a PUA I still know, one I've written about before. A podiatrist who devoted his life to seducing women (a little more than a hundred) and destroyed his life though drug addiction (he lost all his teeth). He is also impulsive and a coward.
My PUA "friend" tried to hang out with this hairdresser, hoping to get his seconds. Didn't work out as he hoped.
Neither of these men was an "alpha" (a concept the True Believers don't understand at all). They were closer to being "omegas," in the real sense - impulsive, self-centered, cowardly, seeing women for sex only but incapable of sustaining a relationship. Trying to fill their empty lives with sex and drugs. Suffering from what have been considered sins - ennui and lust.
As I've pointed out before more than once, the Manosphere gets these things backwards. It comes from having no experience in life - and I've had more than I wanted.
I have no idea what happened to this man. He'd be over 60 by now so of course he's not as good-looking or popular as he used to be. I've haven't seen him in 30 years.
I hope he straightened up his life. But based on the experience I have with these guys - I seriously doubt it.
I will mention that as far back as the ancient Greeks it was noticed that those who devote their lives to physical pleasure always become degraded.

Lots of guys have sexual 'knowledge' but it seems few have wisdom about it. It's not meant nor was it ever meant to be an idol of life or the main purpose of one. Once a guy makes it that way...life soon becomes boring and he tends to lose whatever little talent he might of had.
The game changes in your 50's. Big time. When I was a kid I used to envy those players but now? I am pleased as punch not to be in the dating game - the desperate, lonely old women disgust me and I wouldn't want to put up with their shit either. I have a 40-something friend in the game who amazes me - how he fucks women with one hand on his wallet and the other on his sidearm is a mystery to me.
He isn't a serial womanizer though - he is just damned careful around women and the second they set his alarm bells off - he drops them like a hot potato. Who can blame him? He got raped in divorce court and again by a woman he lived common law with. He would love to settle down but now he is so gun shy it's almost impossible.
As for me...every now and then I bow down and thank God for my wife. When I see what has happened to the modern woman I am overcome with equal parts revulsion and pity.

Ok, so. It really doesn't matter in the end. Most men don't feel that way, and are still dating and getting married and having kids.
