Why Aren't Men Going to College Anymore?

"The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down." - Proverbs 14:1

I went to college and graduated. But I never much liked grade school, despised middle school, and had a blast partying through high school. I graduated from high school with a D+ average, and from college with a low C. I used my degree for a while, was paid shit, often didn't have much control over my job, and worked for idiots.

That is why I work for myself. My degree is practically worthless.

Now grade school is even worse because it is feminized...and middle school...and high school. So after all that, do you think boys now want to go to college? And with the astronomical cost? And going into debt? And no decent jobs unless you get a STEM degree? And having to deal with Affirmative Action, which means "White Men Need Not Apply"?

I'd rather be a mechanic. I'd rather join the military. I'd rather live in a shack in the woods and hunt and fish. Or take some three-month course on software and computers and then get a job. 13 years in public schooling and then four more in college? What genius came up with that?

I daydreamed my way through public school. I daydreamed my way through college, except for an occasional class that really interested me. There were about six of those.

What these guys are doing today is economically rational. They're putting a low value on school, because it's not worth it.

Let's put it this way: boys perform better on standardized tests (as I did) but make poorer grades in school (as I did). And considering I was in school for 17 years, is there any wonder I made average grades?

School these days is set up for girls. It was when I was in, and it's a lot worse even now. And when women move into a field, the value goes down because try to change it to suit them, and men move out. Golly gee whiz! Is it that hard to figure out?

It's got to the point that when boy's and men's sacrifices are being thrown in their faces, and there is no gratitude. Who wants to put up with that? We have a culture of unthankfulness.

Kids should go to school from seven to 16. Get rid of the worst of female teachers. Segregate the schools by sex. Have lots of recess for boys. There are all kinds of things that can be done. They're not that hard.

I've said this before, and I'll continue to say it: in mythology (which is the distilled wisdom of the human race) women are either nurturers or destroyers (like the truly gruesome Hannah Rosin). When they don't nurture then they destroy. And what they destroy is men. And since men created/invented/discovered everything (women who did are statistical outliers) then women are ultimately destroying themselves.

I spent years attending night school while working full time, getting a Bachelor degree and graduating a few years ago. So far, all I have to show for it is a large student loan to pay off.

I don't think that fewer men are going to college/university, I think that men are not entering college/university to study the new/useless fields that represent the majority of growth of enrollment in post secondary institutions. If you investigated enrollment in programs that existed 20 years ago, I suspect that the proportion of male and female students probably hasn't changed; but if you only looked at fields that were created in the past 20 years, I suspect you would see female dominated enrollment.

Wow, you sound like a misogynistic asshole who wanted someone (or some gender) to blame for his shitty life because you didn't do as much as you could've.
