It is extropian. Extropianism (the outward-orientation) is the ultimate expression and very definition of masculinity. Females tend to be by nature inward-oriented. It is this inward-orientation that is the very definition of femininity.

Outward-orientation = masculinity
Inward-orientation = femininity kurt9https://www.blogger.com/profile/02101147267959016924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497093028548856666.post-31956159309889713022014-12-06T01:37:50.074-05:002014-12-06T01:37:50.074-05:00kurt9 ,a need for a frontier is part of the Americ...kurt9 ,a need for a frontier is part of the American myth> most of humanity through history never explored much and was distinctly masculine within the parameter of their society and mostly had little trouble continuing a culture for centuries

All cultures that lack a frontier are inherently pathological. Having lived half of my adult life outside the U.S., I stand by this statement. Masculinity without a frontier is also inherently pathological. It is because there is no purpose, no striving for anything better than what already exists. The pursuit of stasis over dynamism is inherently pathological.

Transhumanism. That concept isn't necessarily masculine since it blurs and destroys the lines between gender, capability and human nature.

Quite the opposite. It is the liberation of competence from the constraints of gender and human nature that we pursue.

Its actually the opposite replacing competence with money.

Not necessarily. Indeed, it may be the replacement of money with competence. The technological decentralization of manufacturing (3D printing and what not) and medicine (DIY biotechnology and bio-medicine) may make it possible for competent people with limited financial resources to create a more open, unlimited future than they currently can. I call this the replacement of money with competence.

The end goal of transhumanism, post humanism is very R selected techno-equality with good genetic engineering and the right implants everyone is mostly equal.

You must be referring to the left-wing version of transhumanism (AKA World Transhumanist Association, IEET, etc.). I can assure you that most of us do not identify with such. We are, at core, libertarians and view transhumanism as the logical extension of libertarian world-view.kurt9https://www.blogger.com/profile/02101147267959016924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497093028548856666.post-14448078742627634802014-12-03T08:41:39.821-05:002014-12-03T08:41:39.821-05:00Oh, the second part - regarding Jews and envy - wa...Oh, the second part - regarding Jews and envy - was supposed to go to your previous post.Mindstormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02949097462978386911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497093028548856666.post-63345762146246504072014-11-30T16:00:56.370-05:002014-11-30T16:00:56.370-05:00kurt9 ,a need for a frontier is part of the Americ...kurt9 ,a need for a frontier is part of the American myth> most of humanity through history never explored much and was distinctly masculine within the parameter of their society and mostly had little trouble continuing a culture for centuries

To some degree some European Americans and Europeans have a higher degree of wanderlust than other groups but that far from universal and the amount of available energy makes underwater and space travel to difficult to be of much value.

IO grant you sublimating this energy into video games isn't healthy but its the best option we have that doesn't involve wars of conquest

in the longer run we don't need it, even if/when we push our birth rates up, we don't need more land.

what we need is contentment The reason being at peace isn't encouraged is that its bad for the industrial state. simply, we've bottle-necked ourselves economically and must keep churning, making and yearning to keep the lights on and to feed the appetite of the rich

Really what would help is a lot more resilience and simplicity without the attendant poverty but what Archdruid also refers to as disintermediation is always resisted since it means less for the mighty and more local authority.

Now re: Transhumanism. Orthodox Jews created the institution of gemach. Isn't it a better policy to imitate success than to express envy of it? Feminisim is that. True by de...Masculine is this. Feminisim is that. True by definition. That approach always oversimplifies things to the point of obscuring reality.

This situation requires this behavior. Who can do it? That situation requires this other behavior. Who can do it? Who is most capable of getting the job done that requires getting done? That is the pragmatic approach that history shows us always works best. Do whatever is necessary to get the job done. Who can do it? Division of usefulness breaks along the lines of "what needs to be done" and "who can do it". "Masculine and Feminine by definition" is not very useful in this construct.

kurt9 has identified the real issue to be discussed: What does crowding do to human behavior? Lots of studies with rats on this. They break off into much smaller groups - but can only do so when there is space to move away. What happens with rats when there are no spaces to move the smaller group into? If you are interested, you can find the studies that deal with this. kurt9 points to the human equivalent: what happens to humans when there are no more frontiers, no more spaces to move into? Look at how Japan has handled this. Being "alpha" gets you ostracized. Blending in with the group brings you resources. Which behavior is necessary and rewarded when there are no frontiers? Of what use is "masculine and feminine by definition" in Japanese society, in other societies where frontiers no longer exist - and the people cannot create new frontiers through physical conquest of other nations?richardpnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497093028548856666.post-32479597566934096022014-11-30T12:53:30.223-05:002014-11-30T12:53:30.223-05:00Perhaps a lack of a real frontier is the problem? ...Perhaps a lack of a real frontier is the problem? Pioneering is an inherently masculine trait. However, pioneering requires the existence of a real frontier, something we had through out the 19th century. Masculinity without pioneering is mostly destructive. The Muslim mIddle-east is a perfect textbook example.

I would say that the decline of masculinity is a subset of a larger problem. All societies that lack a real frontier become increasingly dysfunctional. Robert Zubrin has written much about this.

Your previous comments about the need for space colonization, that I responded to, suggests a possible solution.

BTW, transhumanism is also inherently masculine. Yet, much of the MRA/manosphere seems quite hostile towards it.kurt9https://www.blogger.com/profile/02101147267959016924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497093028548856666.post-31514316164547449642014-11-30T12:41:09.340-05:002014-11-30T12:41:09.340-05:00Effete liberal men are not r-selected?Effete liberal men are not r-selected?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16046202647270439670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8497093028548856666.post-69399332489837096662014-11-30T12:05:35.387-05:002014-11-30T12:05:35.387-05:00You have overextended your metaphors.
