That's th..."Rampant" is an adjective. That's the heraldic term you're groping for. "Rampart" is a noun. Different word. Could well be they're loosely cognate, somewhere back; my OED's across the room and I'm lazy. But no literate speaker of modern English would get the two mixed up. <br /><br />I'm lazy, but I'm not lazy enough to say "rampart" when I mean "rampant".
